Local Canadian wildcard Peter Devries won the O’Neill Cold Water Classic Canada against World Tour surfer Jay Thompson in what was a fairytale ending in one of surfing's final frontiers.
The event went off in classically cold, conditions and the local standout really made his experience tell in the frigid conditions as surfers acclimatised to warmer waters suffered. In addition to Peter the real stars of the event were the water photographers and the stunning location.
Fantastic photo! The event was great, fantastic conditions, great energy! Can't wait for the next one...Took some of my newest shapes out to the event and got some great feedback from surfers from all corners of the world! Thanks to Noah and all involved in making this happen and congrats to Pete!
most surreal surfing here, neon green foliage, clean water, clean air... was at cox bay in 2001 for a quicksilver event, people were amazing, surf was fun, the nightlife was amazing (minus the cigarette smoke), congrats Peter i know your country men are proud.
Did you know there's also surf in Hawaii... i did'nt know about it. And they d'ont need wetsuit over there. But i should have kept that secret... Shhhhhh!!!!
Honestly, probably the silliest comment I've seen, especially as this site has pictures from all across the globe, including China! They've been surfing in Canada since draft dodgers settled there or perhaps earlier. What a stunning setting, almost as beautiful as Scotland!
That's how I feel sitting here in florida about you. Who knew that there was surf in the UK? OF COURSE canada has surf and it may be a little chilly but I bet it's sick bra
The people always see, the incredible work of the surfers, but never apreciate the hard work of the photographer, well done, nice shot, the best, congrats friend...
