January 19th or Big Thursday, I couldn't help but get up early and plan a full day of capturing what was to be the biggest swell of this season. After a 10 minute walk up the I couldn't see anything but solid 15-20ft faces rolling down the point. These images illustrate the real size and power of the point on this day. After a good morning on the point it was time to head back to Surf Berbere have lunch and recharge the batteries.
I then noticed the wind getting better and decided I had to go and grab a few more pictures, it turned out that the Roxy Team were there enjoying a bit of the action. For me it seemed a shame they had to use jetskis and boats in order to enjoy their surf.
The unknown people in your pictures are respectively: Thiago CAMARAO, Junior FARIA and Jeronimo VARGAS, you can look them up on the ASP QS ranking, 2 of them are reef sponsored and one of them is Hang Loose. They stayed with us at that time of the year. And we took them out with us to Anchors that day. The only camp out that day!!!
Man...just got back....this is not making my first monday back any easier. I have some physical memories though, broke my toe clambering back across the rocks that has now infected and i spent Saturday sat in casualty nice. Small price to pay though
Fantastic pictures that brought back great memories of a trip with my Bro to a truly brilliant country and its people. Looking forward to more recent ones of the big February swells hitting. How is the snow in the Atlas?
The big swell that hit yesterday came with rain and made it very stormy, woke up this morning its alot cleaner and the sun is out so it should be better for the 6m swell hitting Thursday. Snow in the atlas is amazing it looks all time when you fly over them and from the distance sometimes you can see them from here all white.
