SAN CLEMENTE, California (Tuesday, September 9, 2008) – Round 2 of the Boost Mobile Pro pres. by Hurley will resume in three to five foot waves at Lower Trestles this morning. The first two heats of the round were completed yesterday so Heat 3 of Round 2 will be the first ASP World Tour action in the water this morning.
Three-time ASP World Champion Andy Irons (HAW) will face wildcard and 2009 ASP World Tour hopeful Yadin Nicol (AUS) in the first heat of the day. Nicol is currently rated seventh on the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) – the top 15 surfers at year’s end qualify for the ASP World Tour.
Heat 11 of Round 2 was slated to showcase Neco Padaratz (BRA) versus local San Clemente surfer Chris Ward (USA), but Padaratz hurt his back in his Round 1 heat yesterday and has withdrawn. Ward will now go straight to Round 3.
Event officials will endeavor to run the remaining 13 heats of Round 2 and the first five heats of Round 3 today. Watch it live on
