Roaring 40s swell provides Argentina with consistent surf all year, the best and biggest during the winter months of April and October. Covering 1,500 miles/2,500 km, Argentina's surfing is primarily centred around a 40 mile/64 km stretch in the north. Around Mar del Plata many breaks have been created and destroyed by a multitude of jetties and breakwaters. Easterly facing, westerly winds are offshore and the mornings often provide exactly that during the summer. Temperature and climate varies wildly from the sub-tropical north to the extremely cold southern reaches. Water temperature varies wildly from 9 to 20ºC or 48 to 68ºF. Argentina retains miles of inaccessible coastline which remains relatively unexplored and new finds are expected.
