Auto-Sleepers Open showdown to take place Saturday.
The BSA have just confirmed that with a 7ft swell set to produce some contestable 2-3ft waves, the Auto-Sleepers British Bodyboard Open showdown will take place this Saturday 1st November.
Check-in at Porthtowan will be from 8am onwards, with the first heats hitting the water at 9am.
With £1,000 for 1st place, £500 for 2nd, £250 for 3rd and £150 for 4th, the £2k prize pot is burning a hole in the BBC coffers; so make sure you're there either to compete or see the new National Champion walk away with a grand in his pocket. Any original entrants who did not make the first check-in are invited to join the official reserve list, but you must complete an entry form if you have not already done so.
The 28 confirmed names in the draw are: Aaron Dinham, Alex Wake, Alex Winkworth, Ali Daniels, Ben Atkinson, Bjorn Storey, Bruno Martin, Cheech Fleck, Damian Prisk, Dan Atkinson, Dan Skaj, Danny Catten, Danny Wall, Darren Halse, David Speller, Eldred Hawke, Hassan Ingram, Jack Johns, James Blackwell, Joe Hone, Joe Rosser, Mark Griffiths, Phil Milsom, Remy Geffroy, Sam Werkmeister, Steve Berriman, Steve Sherrington, Steve Wright.
Overnight accommodation is available at the Beach Hotel: rooms@thebeachhotel.net or The Sick Lame & Lazy backpacker's rooms steve@sicklamelazy.co.uk with prices to fit all budgets.
The clampers have been called off and the Blue Bar and other local businesses are primed to support the event. Colin Van Dongen's bodyboard documentary "Don't Stop Dreaming" will preview at the Blue Bar on Saturday (either during lunch or after the event) so make sure you don't miss that either.
