IT'S been 12 months already? Green equals go for the 2011 Quiksilver Ceremonial Punta De Lobos Big Wave Invitational. The official call is "ON" by Big Wave World Tour Contest Director Gary Linden for Saturday, May 28th.Event one kicks-off the 2011/12 Big Wave World Tour and will see defending World Champion Jamie Sterling up against last year's event winner, local boy, Christian Merello. Size wise it looks to be coming in around 30ft on the face which will please everyone who thought the last ASP World Tour event in Rio was a bit limp on the surf quality.
Punta de Lobos is one of those spots that never maxes out, it just gets bigger and bigger whilst throwing a legit big wave barrel.
“We are excited to kick off the 2011 Big Wave World Tour with the third annual Quiksilver Ceremonial,” said Big Wave World Tour Contest Director, Gary Linden. “It looks like patience is going to pay off as we are expecting surf in the 30 to 40 foot range with light winds and good lighting making for the perfect start to season.”
The event will be webcast live and hosted by Chad Wells & Strider Wasilewski at
www.quiksilver.com/chile so be sure to check it out, it should be epic.
