Baleal Surf Camp

Baleal Surf Camp is a Surf Camp in Peniche and our goal is to provide high quality surf tuition in an international atmosphere. We offer a unique beach base located in the Cantinho da Baía beach with an exclusive permit to have surf classes on it.

A walk to the beach is all you need to do. No driving necessary for the classes.

With our packages we offer full use of the equipment.

Accomodation

SURF HOUSE - THE SURF HOSTEL
This lodge is located 100 metres away from the beach our surf centre and beach bar.

The Surf Hostel in Baleal Peniche caters for easy-going people who prize meeting other people and socialising. The lodge has 4 rooms: three rooms featuring bunks sleeping 2, 3 and 4, and one room with single beds sleeping 5 guests. It has 3 shower and toilet facilities and a common kitchen and dining room. It features a large lounge leading to a pleasant outdoor patio overlooking the sea with barbecue facilities. Services available include: free WiFi, laundry service, cable TV, DVD, surf board & Wet suit safe storage area, "aprés surf" shower, surf board & wet suit hire, bike hire, shuttle from Peniche bus station.

Surf House has a foyer and reception where guests can get usefull information about the area and free Internet access.

There is a supermarket right next to it as well as restaurants and surf shops close by.

We have individual rooms in apartments or semi dettached villas for surfers, couples or families looking for a more confortable accommodastion option, all within walking distance to the beach and our surf school.

Surf School

Our Surf School was one the first schools opening in Portugal and its main goal is to teach safe surfing using only adequate gear and to offer highly dynamic, fun classes that continuously focus on pupils’ progress.

Since the School started in 1993, we have conducted over 4,000 surf courses for people from all sorts of nationalities with ages that span an equally wide range.


We are the only surf school in Portugal’s West Region that operates as a concessionary on a beach that has been exclusively reserved for water sports. As a result, we operate in an area of about 150 metres of the Baleal Camping Park beach that has been exclusively reserved for our School during the holiday season, and are thus able to run our courses on that beach under confortable and safe conditions.

SURF GUIDE

Baleal Surf Camp provides Surf Guide in Peniche, a service tailored for experienced surfers.

These surf trips are done with our Wave Explorer Land Rover which is suitable to drive up and down about any type of track. Our range of action extends from Ericeira to Nazaré depending on the number of surfers and their experience. The trips are led by experienced and qualifiedsurfers who know the region and have surfed the different spots several times.

SURF SEASONS

The Peniche region is known for great consistency in swell. There are not many occasions when you will be unable to get good enough waves.

However, and as is the case for the rest of the Portuguese coast, surfing conditions improve considerably during autumn, winter, and spring. Depending on the condition of the ocean on a particular day, there are potentially about 20 surf spots available within a 15-km radius and, therefore, it almost always possible to find a wave that is adequate for your particular level of surfing skill.
