Since April 2003, the Tempisque Bridge, (780m long), one of the longest in Central America, is an alternative to the Naranjo ferry for crossing this stretch of water. On a major swell, Boca Barranca is an endless peeling left second only to Pavones in terms of length which is why it gets chosen as a longboard competition site but beware the river pollution.
