SAN CLEMENTE, California (Sunday, September 7, 2008) The waiting period for the Boost Mobile Pro presented by Hurley started today, but event officials have opted not to run Round 1 at Lower Trestles this morning. The waiting period for the seventh of 11 events on the 2008 ASP World Tour stretches from Sept. 7-13, 2008.

"There are nice conditions this morning and the swell is about two to four feet and on the increase but we have a great window with four or five days of surf lined up that should be better than today," Contest Director Mike Parsons said. "The main decider today was that there wasn't enough consistency. There are good sets every half hour but it wasn't consistent and we're expecting really good waves tomorrow through Friday."

Leonardo Neves of Brazil has pulled out of the event due to visa issues and will be replaced by former ASP Top 45 surfer Shane Beschen (USA). Beschen will meet ASP ratings leader Kelly Slater (USA) and Australian Dayyan Neve in Heat 8 of Round 1.

The first heat of the contest will feature Australian Kai Otton against South Africans Jordy Smith and Travis Logie.

The Boost Mobile Pro will be webcast LIVE on www.aspworldtour.com and www.boostmobilepro.com.
