How to describe it? I’m not sure, and even if I could, I wouldn’t do it justice. When you stand up on your first wave it is the uncontrollable, throw your hands in the air and scream feeling, if only for a few seconds!! Once you can ride a wave, it is the undeniable urge to go back for more, and when you are on the beach and the sun is shining it is enormous fun!!

The only way you can really understand what all the fuss is about is to get some gear and get wet!! That’s where we can help. Bournemouth Surf School, situated on Bournemouth beach, 500m from Boscombe pier, is the only level 1-4 British Surfing Association Approved Surf School based on the South Coast. All our instructors are BSA Accredited Professional Surf Instructors with many years of experience. We offer a selection of different courses to suit all levels and requirements.

Surf Steps Surf School only sell surf lessons so we have no retail motivations, we believe it is a privilege to teach surfing. Whatever the weather, (as long as the red flags are not flying!) our main focus is to give students a safe, satisfying, surfing experience. We pride ourselves on our ability to professionally teach the skills of surfing and instill in students a healthy respect and awareness of the beautiful yet powerful Ocean.
People of all ages and backgrounds have discovered that with lessons and practice, they too can experience the thrill of catching a wave; it is also a great way to keep fit and meet new people. Why spend the summer in a stuffy gym when you can go to the beach and still get a good work out!

A Basic Group Lesson –

* An introduction to water safety and beach awareness.
* Learn how to ride and control a board lying down.
* Learn how to ‘pop up’ and ride a board standing up.
* All equipment included

You will be learning as part of a group.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

• A form of surfing that has seen a recent resurgence, practiced at one time by the beach boys of Waikiki. Popular with watermen as an alternative way to ride the surf and as a great means of staying in shape
• You will be learning as part of a group.
• Includes an introduction to water safety and beach awareness.
• Learn the basics of standing on the board
• Learn how to propel yourself using a paddle
• Great for all abilities
