At low tide the flawless A-frame peak gives a short, hollow right and a longer, high-performance left. Always very crowded, unless it's big. Look out for rocks, rips and poor water quality after rains (always!).
One of the most famous waves in the world, due to the much-publicised fight to save the reef from marina development, the project is on hold but is not forgotten. Ample parking in town, a surf shop and full facilities. Crowd pressure is becoming a real issue so know your ability and surf with respect.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
