The only waves heavier, in my eyes, are Jaws, and Outer Log Cabins...
How about the photog. that fell off of the ski and soaked his camera? What a bone head! Judging by his appearance I would say that he did not plan on getting wet. No life jacket, no water housing, no brains! Don't let your guard down or turn your back on the pacific... she will whoop you every time if your not prepared for the worst!
Good to SA representing on the big wave scene. Pity there were no pics of Chris Bertish. It would have been great to see how he won, not only that he won. Respect to all the competitors. They are all winners just by being out there in the heavy water. Can't wait to see what Dungeons delivers this coming winter.
Carlos Burle must have discovered some super wax, he looks like spiderman on the face of that wave, the drops they made are mind blowing, f..k tow-in these are the elite of the surfing world!
The news didnt even show one single ride from the competition! Only showed the rogue set washing up the beach. ?? They could at least show ONE ride from the contest, to give the story some context. Right?
Well on the news here we did see a little bit of someone having a ride...not a lot but a little. More of people running away from or getting caught by the rogue wave!
In Hawaii we get the surf forecast on the news everyday, and if any waves are firing, then the 'watershot of the day' is also posted on the news. If it's good, the weather man gets very excited. And the 'Sports' segment shows surf contests, emphasizing the local surfers involved.
Man, when I saw it on the news, I thought to myself I felt bad for the injured but Christ......just show one freaking ride.....nope, nothing....just watched the dominos fall...it reminded me of this time my dad wanted to kill me after playing around the above ground pool we had at the time, one side folded and then WOOOOOOOOOOOSH......it was right around the time when the band Tool came out, everytime I hear that song when he sings"learn to swim" it reminds me of that everytime I hear it....
DAMN!!! That's some BIG surf....Twiggy's barrel is insane!!! Dorian made a huge impression surfing the place for the 1st time and pullin' in to a huge pit also.... Those guys were rushing it hard that day!!! Good job men!!! Memories in you're head 4ever!!!!
