ASP Reconnaissance to China looking to establish first ever ASP International Surfing event for 2011. China has surf and even better it is best on an exotic pristine tropical island in the Wanning region of Hainan Island.

From the 27th of September till the 3rd of October an international surfing team formed by professionals, Ms. Holly Beck from California, Mr. Sam Bleakley from United Kingdom, Mr. Emiliano Cataldi from Italy and Mr. Erwan Simon from France, spent time in the magnificent island of Hainan, supporting the organization of the 2010 Wanning International Surfing Festival.

During this exciting period, the surfers, with the help of professional photographer Mr. John Seaton Callahan, discovered excellent waves on the Wanning coastline and now this team along with ASP Australasia will be all participating in an event that will take place from the 6th to the 8th of November 2010.

ASP Australasia’s Tour manager Dane Jordan travelled to the coastline last week and is excited about what he saw.
“Hainan Island offers the perfect setting for the sport of surfing - Crystal clear blue water, white sandy beaches and a variety of quality tropical waves makes it is an ideal venue to showcase China to the world” said Jordan.

“We are working closely with the government agencies, tourism authorities and U1st Sports with the view to hopefully creating a new stop on the ASP World Tour aiming for a significant shortboard or longboard event in China during 2011 which would offer huge benefits to the sport of surfing in China and Internationally.”

The event which will run next month between November 6 and 8 will include a select field of ten professional surfers who will be announced shortly.

They will participate in China’s first ever international professional surfing event with ASP Australasia conducting the event and hopefully next year elevating the event to WQS Star status.
