What is Clan Skates? A surf, skate and snowboard shop in the West End of Glasgow (Scotland) established in 1987 by then pro skaters Jamie Blair and Davie Phillip. The shop has been supplying boardriding equipment to the needful and the heedful for well over a 18 Years. We pride ourselves in our background with a record that speaks for itself.

Clan surf adventures, our aproved surf school, was first established in 1991. The school was put on ice when Jamie was based in Cornwall and was re-launched in 1998. It has been going from strength to strength ever since.

Snowboarding was first introduced into the shop in the winter of 1990 (a poor year for snow) 91 to 93 were bumper years for snow fall and our snowboard business. We now always carry a good selection of core brands to carry us through the winter seasons and the new Xscape generations spring summer and autumn frolics.

Surf School

From the total beginner to intermediate and advanced surf lessons, the Clan Surf School can offer individuals and groups the chance to learn in the stunning surf locations off the Scottish Coastline whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety at all times.

We cater to a wide variety of people from ages 8 to 80 including :
- Families
- School and College parties
- Corporate Events
- Stag and Hen groups

All of our instructors are fully qualified :
- British Surfing Association Level 1 and 2 surf instructors
- RLNI Surf Life Saving Association qualified beach lifeguards
- Members of the National Coaching Foundation Sports Coach UK

All of the equipment is provided as required including :
- 5mm Winter Wetsuits
- Gloves, boots and hoods
- BSA "Swell" surfboards

The lessons take place on the east or west coast of Scotland depending on prevailing wind and swell conditions . Journey times to the beach are aproximatly 1 and a half to 2 and a half hours. Departure times subject to the tidel range.

Skate

We mainly hold Flip, Plan B, Birdhouse, Element, and Zero, in addition to our own Clan premium wood Blanks. However other brands can be ordered as per customer request. This usually takes between 3 to 7 days.

We are stockists of és, Emerica and Etnies footwear. On the hardware side, we stock Spitfire, Panic, Independent, Grindking, kreper, Destructo, Royal, Tensor, Toy Machine, Birdhouse, Flip, Death, Element, Karma and Thunder. We also carry a full range of skate clothing, including T shirts, jeans, tops and footware.

Snow

Come in and get some down to earth advice on finding the right gear for you. We stock a wide range of boards, boots, bindings and boardwear which include the following brands Bakoda, Northwave, Nitro, Gnu, Drake, Pro Tek, Bent Metal, Vans, Palmer, Flow, Dakine, Westbeach

Give us a bell and we'll let you know what we do or don't have in stock. The chances are if we don't have it, we can get our hands on it for you. We also offer a Snowboard hire service, for trips home or abroad. And We can tune, wax and repair boards. Ask in shop for a quote.
