CCA HQAbout us
Welcome to Cornish Coast Adventures. We are based in Port Quin, Near Polzeath in North Cornwall and provide Coastal
Activities and s/c accommodation for anyone who wants to get to see what north Cornwall's coastline has to offer! We were the original providers of sit on top sea kayak tour on the north cornish coast so our instructors are the most experienced around. From Coasteering and Kayak Tours to holiday accommodation we can provide a complete Cornish Coast Adventure, or you may just want to do an activity or be looking for a great location for you and your friends /family to do your own thing.
Port Quin© 2011 - Port QuinSam and Mark Williams formed Cornish Coast Adventures in June 2006. We are both keen water sports and adventure activity enthusiasts and we wanted to share the unique stretch of the North Cornish Coast where we have grown up.
From a young age we explored the local coastline finding many of the routes we use today for coasteering and sea kayaking long before we offered theese activities to others.
Scarrabine farm is our base nestled above Port Quin, Near Polzeath and across the Valley from Port Isaac it has been farmed by our family for 4 generations and has some great access to the cliffs above Port Quin and Lundy Bay. All this gives us a truly unique combination of experience and local knowledge to guide you Sea kayaking and coasteering. We can show you huge caves and give you there local names! and even Shipwrecks can be seen on some tides.
All members of the team at CCA are qualified first aiders and are Qualified beach life guards, BCU kayak instructors, and three are Port Isaac life boat crew members. All of our activities are licensed by AALA (adventurous activity licensing authority) Detailed risk assessments along with a child protection policy are in place can be viewed at our base upon request.
Kayaking
Take it easy and enjoy the amazing scenery or drop a mackerel line over the side and try you luck at kayak fishing. Have a go at a rock jump into the clear blue waters of a secluded spot or pull up one of our lobster pots and see what's been caught!
Paddle into one of the huge sea caves that are dotted around our coastline and look, listen and feel the ruggedness of North Cornwall. Try kayak surfing at low tide or just marvel at the sea birds, seals, basking sharks, sunfish and other amazing sea life.
Kayak options (ages 8+)
Our kayak sessions are tailored to your ability if you would just like to come and have a go we offer a taster or family fun session which will be based at Port Quin or Port Gaverne harbour this session will be approx two hours and focus on getting on the water with the basic skills being taught then its up to you either an exploration of the historic fishing Port or some fun and games.
smugglers cave© 2011 - cave 2Our standard trip which again can be tailored to your ability is our three hour session, the sessions are Run from Port Quin (where we aree based), Port Gaverne and Rock beach we will go over the basics needed to make sure you are happy on your kayak then after some time in the harbour or shelterd moorings it's off along the coast aiming to reach a deserted beach for a half time chill out before heading back to our start point.Along our routes there are caves, sea and bird life, secret spots for a quick swim and amazing scenery This trip is more weather dependant than our taster sessions but give us a call and we can advise you of the options available.
Coasteering(ages 8+)
Coasteering is great for building confidence in the water. Swim into small and huge caves jump from rock ledges, spin in natural whirl pools and scramble and swim your way around the coast amongst an amazing array of sea and bird life. If that's not enough get to do it all, in what we believe is the best bit of coastline in the world ( probably a bit bias!). All 3 of our guides grew up exploring this coastline and still live here all year round making us the only locally operated Kayaking and coasteering company in this area.
