Average beachbreak over sand and flint bottom, the pier gives banks some shape, very strong rips and longshore drift at peak of the tides. Water quality used to be horrendous but has improved recently. Groynes and pier structure to watch out for, flint pebbles can be very sharp. Pay to park by the pier or find the free roadside spots. Very average beachbreak, regarded as the county's premier spot, some chalk reefs add some definition to the sandbars. Best on a N swell and S wind. Banks not as good since the removal of the sewage pipe. Sharp flints and strong currents. Pay and display car park on cliff.
