Jacksonville Beach, Fla. – The Florida Surfing Association (FSA) is excited to announce the FSA Surfer Girl camp. Starting June 9, FSA Surfer Girl, the only all girls summer surf camp in Northeast Florida, will conduct week-long camps for girls of all ages and levels that will not only teach each camper the fundamentals of riding a wave but show them how much fun surfing with friends can be!
The camp runs from 8am to 11:30am Monday through Friday on the north side of the Jacksonville Beach Pier and is $195 per week. Surfboards are provided for each camper with surfer to instructor ratio at 3 to 1 with limited class sizes. Campers receive instruction in the water and on the beach as well as classroom time and surf videos at the FSA Headquarters located directly behind the Pier.
The all-female staff of top local surfers, led by former internationally-ranked professional surfer Lindsey Baldwin, is CPR trained and First Aid qualified. FSA Surfer Girl instructors also understand the unique challenges and needs of girls learning to surf and will share with campers the techniques that fuel their own love of surfing.
FSA Surfer Girl Manager Lindsey Baldwin brings with her a lifetime of surfing experience having grown-up within a surfing family. Lindsey competed as a multi-titled amateur surfer before moving on to become one of the top-ranked professional women surfers in the world. Lindsey’s also a UNF graduate with a degree in business marketing and has been teaching surfing the past seven years.
“
I’ve learned from my past experiences that it’s just less intimidating as a girl to learn to surf from other girls, especially if it’s your first time in the water trying,” said Baldwin.
“
We just want to provide a unique and professional learning experience for girls that is also a lot of fun too.”
