The green room ... Heli perspective© 2009 - WPS/Joli

One particular day was more mechanical than the rest. A puff of offshore and an entire afternoon of solar rays was all it took for photog Joli to jump a chopper at Tugun airport with a homing device on Mick, Bobby, Kieren and Noodles; while the corrugated Pacific discharged on the Kirra sandbar at 14 second intervals.

amazing shots, but i agree with Nurno. The necessity for skis etc is usually (unless monster waves -which the lads at the XXL awards proved you dont always need skis for) negligible. I think ethically/morally and practically they are a non-essential piece of kit on this type of wave and people should think very carefully before using them, particualry those wiht the influence, and skill to prove the point. That said, beautiful photos (apart from the one with the ski).

On the subject of what a beautiful planet we live on, I know they're necessary at times and have advanced surfing into previously unridable territory (which makes for great photos and increased safety, but how does it really beenfit the majority of us), but does anyone else find jet ski surfing unethical in both a green sense and a soul sense? Good shots none-the-less.

Nice work fellas, love the last shot with all the sand particles sucking up in the back of the wave. Shot 2 is utter filth as well. Keep em coming.
