Flores Places Equal 9th in Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay

CAPBRETON, France (Friday, July 11, 2008) - Jeremy Flores (FRA),
20, 2007 ASP Rookie of the Year and currently ranked 11th on the
2008 ASP World Tour, placed equal 9th in the Billabong Pro
Jeffreys Bay in South Africa this week. Flores, who was the best
European of the event after Tiago Pires (PRT) and Miky Picon
(FRA) were eliminated in Round 2, was stopped by 3X ASP World
Champion Andy Irons (HAW) in Round 4.

Flores, who had to face the second round after placing second to
Royden Bryson in Round 1, defeated local Ricky Basnett (ZAF) and
Californian Chris Ward (USA) before meeting with Irons in Round
4.

"The last two comps I haven't done so good so it's good to be
back in a rhythm
", Flores said after reaching Round 4. "Andy is
one of my favorite surfers and I've looked up to him as one of
the best surfers since I was a little kid so having a heat with
him is a pleasure
."

Flores, youngest surfer ever to qualify among the ASP Top 45 in
2007, has had a good year so far on the Dream Tour apart from
the South Pacific leg where he got an equal 33rd and an equal
17th, and will be heading to the prestigious Rip Curl Pro Search
confidently, from July 30 to August 10.

The Reunion Island born surfer, who has been leading European
surfing for a couple of years now, remains comfortable to
maintain his spot for next year's ASP World Tour. He will attend
the main ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) events this summer in
Europe and will be defending his Buondi Billabong Pro crown at
Ericeira in Portugal.
