Period Chart
This chart shows the swell period - or time between each wave in the set. This has a direct relationship to the speed the swell travels and the quality of the surf. Waves below about 7 seconds will rarely create surf. Waves in about 7-9 seconds can create weaker surf. Above this the swell is better quality groundswell.
