Although the sign on the pier says Cape Hatteras Pier, everyone refers to it as Frisco Pier. Protected from N/NE swells by Cape Hatteras, it works best on anything with S in it. A snappy wave with occasional barrels, it's offshore in northerly winds and can handle the bigger swells.
Generally much less crowded than the Lighthouse because it is far less consistent ? until a S swell hits, which may pass by a lot of the spots to the north. Easy parking and camping.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
