STAND on the beach a little bit up from the RockFood on a flat day and ask 10 passing surfers where the fabled La Graviere sandbank actually sits and you'll get almost as many answers.

In the last rays of 2011 La Graviere stood up and and turned a tricky final gasp of North Atlantic energy into this session. All along the coast it was hard work but here this fickle lump of sand fluffed and groomed it like much adored son.

As of the weekend France looks set for a solid run of swell and favourable winds. Following a stormy first few days, 2012 now looks pretty promising.
