Surf doesn't actually reach this beach. Forecast is for the outer sand bar and surrounding areas.
The main beach at Gt. Yarmouth is protected by an outer sand bar that at low tide completely blocks any surf from reaching land. Higher tides cover the sand bar but don't let enough swell through to make a surfable wave. The wind farm has the same effect.
A jetski or boat is required to make it to the outer sand bank and thus a knowledge of the tides is an absolute must. The waves on the bank are no doubt an average beach break.
