Southerly facing this coastline picks up swell from South Atlantic's Roaring 40s although a deal of swell decay has occurred by the time the swell hits the long beaches and accessible point breaks of Ghana and the Ivory Coast. Swell consistency during the Monsoon season is extremely high but plagued by onshores. The slightly less consistent dry season (December to May) benefits from the cool and dry Harmattan wind which is offshore and from the north.
