Sited on an old gravel pit, this is the legendary Hossegor tube spot. Dredging the rivermouth affected wave quality but it is back with a vengance, hosting pro-surfing competitions in huge conditions. Heavy, thick-lipped beasts, breaking perilously close to shore and often closing out, snapping more boards than just about anywhere.
Rips as strong as the lips - experts only. Facilities down beach at Front de Mer. Park along Blvd De Front de Mer (D79) and use slatted access paths through the stabilised dunes.
Park along Blvd De Front de Mer (D79) and use access paths or park at La Nord and walk up the beach.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
