Hostel Casacaracol
Hostel CasacaracolThe Caracol started in January 2003 with the partial renovation of the 1st and 2nd floors of an old building in the heart of the Barrio de Santa Maria. The location was above an old alcoholic Gaditano and next door to the last brothel in town (Cafe los remedios ) an ideal location that allowed the fun festivities and noise that beginnings are all about! For the people who stayed during the first two years the hostel was quite a different place to the Caracol you find today! Co existing as it did with the old neighbor in the same building (though different entrance). ![]() Some may remember bare fleeting glimpses of him in the central patio on the ground floor or catch his colorful colloquial commentary. "Jo de puta cabron me cago en sus muertos...INGLEEEES!!" Some may remember Juan Grimaldi living in the Caracol, this 60 year old deeply eccentric inventor (don't get him started on his windmill!!), artist and all round renaissance man would be the fellow taking your food to create collective feasts for anyone who was hungry and for some who were just too polite to refuse!!!! A colorful antidote to the man downstairs! He still pops around from time to time. There will be many people who were kept awake by the harsh cries of our neighbors plying their trade till the wee small hours! They finally closed early in 2009! In the old days the kitchen and reception was in a small room on the second floor so disoriented guests would have to climb their way up the winding stairs to check in. ![]() FacilitiesCasa Caracol provides the following facilities for your stay with us in Cadiz.
