Here's first contact for Hurricane bill at Encuentro on the Dominican Republic courtesy of the guys at Swellsurfcamp. Well overhead and a good indication of what the rest of the Eastern Seaboard can expect.

Surfed nsb friday night from 6-8 really started to see the size that night... woke up stoked at 5am for ponce... hit that up for dawn patrol it was going off a fog over the ocean with the sun rising really set off the morning!!!! it was like 7 and pitching on inside reeeeaaalllyy shallow and 8-10ft outside just peeling.. got one of the best barrels of my life on the inside it beats barrels i got in hawaii sooo im stoked!! can't wait untill next hurricane : )
I drove 2 hours up to Sebastian from West Palm Beach and i got there around 7am ish. It was like 8-9ft rights going off with no current what so ever. There was such a large crowd but there was plenty of beach to walk down =]. But then the wind got to it and so did the tide in the afternoon and tore the swell apart. Close-outs everywhere. Went home stoked though! Im posting picks on the sebas surf report tomorrow and i may make a vid. Good luck to you guys up north! YEWW!
Ponce Inlet was 6 to 10 and 150yds long on sat. and Nsb Inlet was 5 to 8 ft on sun morn and epic. crowd was smaller because the tide was so high and the guards moved all the cars out of the inlet area. Great swell over all.

Was out aT White piont nova scotia , yesterday . Got there a litte late , as tide was out more than what i would have liked . As expressedon here before lots of paddling and duck diving , all though little fog i could see sets coming building some excess of double overhead , but no wheres to really go , tide went out max and waves where left with nothing to do but close out . Did manage to get a few heart pounders . Water bloody freezing )
Went to Hirtles beach in Nova Scotia(South Shore) yesterday at dusk...too foggy to go out much further than the shorebreak which was coming in at 4 - 6 ft...would have loved to been able to see and go out more and have seen the sets coming and been able to get on early enough to ride in...im guessing would have easily been head high + ...definitely cleaner at Hirtles than usual...tomorrow will definitely be the day for clean surf around here if all goes as planned...were getting off easy as far as the hurricane is concerned as i just got done my deckwatch on the boat im working on and its much less intense than predicted...
Hi i found hurtles beach on the off chance one day driving around near rissers , took the road around and ended up going over the ferry there . someone gave us a panphlet on art work and the area , was one of the most secluded beaches i have found , been back for a board a couple times , no one around hum camped at the ovens lovely spot , does it go off much there . seems like it would i body surf boogie board so not perfect waves dont frustrat me , all in all cool peace
There won't be clean surf until tomorrow when the winds switch offshore. With yesterday's fog, it was more of a paddling/duck diving session...frustrating. You couldn't see the clean-up sets until they were literally breaking over you.
Bill is in town now. Big rain just starting.
Reports of 15-20 ft rolling breakers at main spots. The eye is about to pass by in a few hours.

its 4pm saturday and its flat as a lake here at jupiter inlet! now i know why i'm selling my condo in jupiter and moving all the money out to my main residence in cardiff. where's the surf?
for those who have asked us; the surfer in the shot at Encuentro is Victor (Bobo) Peralta, once of the most well known and best Dominican surfers, loving his home break, Jim
More hype than good surf. Mostly close outs. Sebastian 100 surfers out just sitting there. A hurricane needs to stall and sit still in the swell window in order to be any good. Bill's forward speed was much too fast. Granted there were waves but no where near epic.
You were in the wrong place...it was called that Sebastian would get the lion's share, however in St. Augustine there were larger and cleaner waves than any I have seen posted anywhere. I have pics myself that I will be posting Weds. Solid 8 foot with 10 foot bombs.
I'm gitty like a little school girl. All packed up and heading down the south coast before light in the morning...hopefully to get away from the crowds.
Rockaway Pk, NYC - we're waitin. It's been wellin up, though. just left the h20, and it's solid chest now...dare i say which part of me is solid as a rock right now for 0600? b124, holla if yoiu goin out!
pray no one is harmed from this storm ! but loving feeling the exitment of all the wave riders watching the mood of the altantic ocean!such a powerful storm so amazing to see ! will be searching the exposed coast line in scotland !
Yeah, well. As of right now Magicseaweed isn't right. It's still small. Hopefully it turns out like they predict for Saturday. Of course if it does, no beach around here (VB) is going to hold it. We're thinking about surfing in the chesapeake bay. That would be an experience.
Hi Guys, go for it , have a great few days with this one,,, think of us in the canary islands (of afican coast) its been flat here for some days, do you think it could affect our conditions? i know your the other side of the world, but can you send some our way!!!
Pretty stoked as well, only thing is i dont know how im going to put up with the lifeguards man, just want to say everyone whos planing a family trip to the lovely shore well go to A/C or something
Seaside's gonna burn this weekend...grew up surfing castlz in brig and made it up that way often. Tryin to convince my bro he should roll to stockton tomorrow, though...could be epic there
To all the boys from Florida up to Maine, wax up those pin tails and get yourself some barrels!!!!! Stoked to get pitted and spitted!!!
Whhhheeeeeewwwwwwweeeeeeee, get ready to throw some hoots and shakas! See you out the back boys!
Good storm etiquette dictates that you never, I mean never, invite a storm into your neighborhood, even if you live across the pond. Dude, what were you thinking?
reading all these posts make me even more stoked!!! i cant wait, its going to be huge....school bus barrels baby!, cant wait to make it out of a few in OCMD!!
OH MAN!!! RI is going to get slammed by this. Second beach anyone?? Should be Packed.... at least the tourists will hopefully be cleared out by then.... DAMN THOSE ANNOYING KIDS!!! haha.
Forget second... got a feeling P.J. is where it's at! Or if you have the means and the balls, elbow! Let's all just "Hope" it turns out to be as predicted and it's not TOO crowded. I myself am a bit jittery with anticipation. Everybody bring cameras!
Yea me and my buddy have decided not to be going to second but somewhere along the south shore line... Hopefully it stay nice enough to get some high quality rides in. Good luck to you!!!
Looks like the swell of the decade from what I remember. Right now Cocoa Beach is looking at 8.5 ft at 15 seconds...seems like wave faces in the 10-13 foot range on sets. I can't imagine NSB Inlet and what it's going to be like....that shit is at least 1.5 times the size of the beach break.
noooiicee
Most places will be maxing out with the extra long period (14-20sec) and wave heights. Your best bet is to go find a point break up north. (NE, RI) Some places may hold it, you will have to just look. You have to remember the east coast never see swell like this. Its mostly Short Period wind swell averaging a 10 second long period.
Still flat as of Wednesday afternoon. Holding steady. Well, a bit anxious, I guess. Most of you guys just don't realize how bad the (U.S.) East Coast can be. (Hatteras is ok. I guess...)
Hoping to make it to the jersey shore for this one if not... its surfing in the rockaways... gotta love taking the subway to surf ;) Come on bill im ready to take some days off work hook me up!!!
I'm f'in geeked about this. I've been waiting all summer with nothing but one day semi decent swells. Sorry gulf coast...this one's not turning your way and is looking like the event all of us east coasters have been waiting for. I love being me right now!!!
