Epic, scary, plain-stupid, and nearly every other superlative has been overused in an attempt to describe the fantastic power of Teahupoo. Admirably, this movie endeavours to literally get you inside the wave in order to convey exactly what it means to get barreled within an inch of your life. To achieve this the film-makers use the 'revolutionary' 360 degree camera system. Unfortunately it juts several inches above the surfers' heads proving to be somewhat of a hazard. Whilst undoubtedly attempting to push the boundaries, being joined to 20 pounds of potentially lethal yellow technology as you head over the falls was only briefly appealing to our reviewers.

It was certainly no easy task for the surfers to achieve their part. The weight of the camera made balancing that bit harder, and the fact that it is elevated above the head proved to be a hazard.
Jethro Lynch

Fortunately for the movie, Mother Nature comes to the rescue and blasts Tahiti with an pin-up of a swell.

Thankfully halfway through the movie an outrageous swell hits Tahiti and sees the pros dump the camera and surf some of the heaviest waves witnessed at Teahupoo, with a solid soundtrack to compliment them. Undoubtedly, the following footage is some of the most spectacular ever captured as the entire big wave community turns up to join the parade.
Ben Jones

All in all, a worthy big wave movie with some stand-out waves, mind-blowing sequences and an excellent bonus section. Unfortunately its unique selling point is also its Achilles’ heel.
