CAN anyone measure this accurately? Mickey Smith called it the biggest he'd ever seen (in the 25ft range) and it was almost a given that Fergal Smith would be the one to snag it on Oct 20th.
"It was massive, said Mickey, Ferg definitely caught the biggest wave I have ever seen ridden out there."
Can anyone tell me what the required conditions are to make this place work as good as this..Swell size and direction and wind?? Would love to go down to watch someday....Oh and where do you watch from exactly!? Cheers...
there were a handful of guys out there that day.this is a big wave but didnt look any different to anything else that i saw.you are all lunatics anyway!would love to see some other pictures!
if that's 25ft then why are they saying it's the biggest ridden there, can't they count, the face looks to be at least 40ft, i heard this guy was bored surfing it, so why was he surfing it then?
Well by deductive reasoning, I reckon it's 24 ft, give or take an inch. By reasoning that the guy surfing is say 6ft tall, crouched down low he is probably about 4ft. Then by using the edge of a rizla packet, marking his height on the edge, and then counting the number of his 4ft height from the bottom of his board to the part of the wave diectly above. It fits in exactly 6 times. Which I am shocked and annoyed at cause it look oooge. And means the biggest wave I have every surfed was really only about 8 and quater inches high. Not the 8ft monster I had previously declared. God dammit. Back to studying.
I reckon thats a 40ft face for sure in pic three he is about five foot
slightly crouched and he aint at the bottom of the trough, he fits in about 8 times to the lip, and if this is only 25ft then Pete Cabrinha did not ride 70ft Jaws - your a star Ferg
