Paddle for Life 2011
The date has been finalised for this years Joe Way Paddle for Life which will be held at Thorney Bay, Canvey Island on Sunday 24th July.
This year’s paddle is gearing up to be a bigger, better event with other activities throughout the day and was officially launched by Ellie and Keira Clements during a recent trip to Paris.
Everything starts at 12:00 with a beach clean up supported by Surfers Against Sewage, then at 17:00 the kids get ready for their 200 metre fun paddle along the shoreline, followed by the fancy dress paddle, finally at 18:00 the experienced paddlers set off for the 1km paddle around the bay.
Festivities then move to the nearby Smallgains Hall, where from 20:00, revellers can enjoy a Hawaiian themed party with a Beach Style BBQ, live band, auction and raffle.
This year’s paddle is being supported by former Olympic Athlete and Indee Rose Trust patron, Dean Macey as well as last years main supporter, Wet n Dry Boardsports.
Last year raised a total of £700 for Havens Hospices and the Indee Rose Trust, and organiser Owen Clements hopes that this year can top that amount.
