JUNO BEACH, FL-- A million cubic yards of sand is being dumped to widen a stretch of beach centered on the Juno pier.

Sand will be dumped from 1.4 miles south of the pier to one mile north of it. This will widen the beach approximately 150 feet.

The beach-quality sand is being dredged just offshore Singer Island, shipped 4 miles north, then pumped onto Juno Beach.
It's a nine million dollar project to replenish what Mother Nature took away over the past nine years.

Daniel Bates, the Palm Beach County Environmental director says, "This beach has been eroding away for quite some time. We only really work in areas that are chronically eroding. We try to allow the beaches to recover on their own after storms but in this case it had been eroding away for many years."
