YEP it's true. This season could be the last season where we'll be allowed access to surf Kbay. The A.B.B.A group, which was set up to highlight the increased limited access imposed upon us to be able to surf/windsurf Broadbench needs your support more than ever - right now. Later is not an option. The group has recently discovered that a new bylaw which comes into effect in June this year (2009) could now include the complete closure of Broadbench and possibly the surrounding areas. This bylaw will go through if it is not opposed by the local council so pressure needs to be put on them now!

We only have until the 1st June 2009 to sort this. The MOD have already set out their stall by enforcing a new £500 fine for anyone who enters within their boundary without permission .

Time is running out - go to www.broadbench.co.uk to show your support and voice your opinion.

This is not an anti MOD campaign. We are not trying to stop them from training. It's just that Kimmeridge is a beautiful place which brings great pleasure to all those who visit there, and in this very overcrowded island it would be a massive loss if we were to lose it forever.

In the meantime please do not surf The Bench when it's out of bounds. Do not walk along the top of the cliffs without permission from the wardens. Basically do what the wardens say! Those who break the rules could ruin it for everyone. Be patient, work with us and hopefully the outcome will please all parties involved.

Thank you, ABBA

Why do the army want to close kimmeridge? is it to save money by doing more training in one place? Perhaps before denying our children the opportunity to surf at one of the best surf breaks in england[when it works] they could save the equivalent amount by stopping the wastage of food in their catering departments where they throw away enough food to feed a small african village at every mealtime

Hi, I would like to register my objection but the website mentioned doesn´t work. Is there any other way we can show our support for keeping the Bench open?

Is there a petition to sign, preferably online, but anything will do? You'll have me signing it, as well as the rest of the Sth Cst community I'm sure. Is there anything we can do apart from standing idly by waiting for the axe to fall??
