Stormrider Description
Long, fun, mellow reefbreaks that can handle some size, lefts being favoured. Popular with longboarders, and spreads out the Kimmeridge crowd. A few rocks and rips at size.
Park down near the slipway and walk round the cliffs to the east.

Local Knowledge
Various spots all across the purbecks. The most popular has parts of it in a MOD firing range, considered a sensitive spot, but given its recent coverage on ITV, Carve and Storm Riders Guide, it's just not. Has 3 main breaks, one wally left, a slightly smaller 'a frame' and a world class right. All of them are pretty shallow and break over flat rock with exposed bolders (sometimes). Make no mistake about it people have died at these breaks (ITV, 2009), they are not for beginners. Not only because it can get very big, but because the paddle out is pretty long and the impact zone can be harsh, if you aren't fit and don't surf regularly you will get tired and become a danger to yourself especially if its big. For more experienced surfers though it can offer a really fun wave, when not crowed. There is no webcam so you need to use your own experience to predict a wave there and to be honest thats part of the fun. Happy hunting.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
