Lisbon/Estoril Surf Report and Forecast
Spain + Portugal

Stormrider Guide Local Information

Monte EstorilWave Type: pier/groyne/jetty rightBreaks Over: uneven reef & sandBest Tide: All tidesBest Wind: North Easterly
A sectioney and uncrowded righthander that holds big swells as well as gathering up the best of the smaller days along the Costa Estoril. It breaks off a jetty and is exposed to W winds, but is usually fairly quiet. Residential sewage mixes with the generally poor Lisbon water.

CarcavelosWave Type: beach break peaksBreaks Over: sandBest Tide: All tidesBest Wind: North Easterly
The original and still one of the best Portuguese surf spots, Carcavelos is a awesome beachbreak. Beside the fort at the eastern end, cylindrical lefts roll over shifting sandbars, attracting seemingly every surfer in the city and most of the foreign surfers on the Costa Estoril. Best on a SW swell, when power intensifies and the occasional right appears. Highly consistent, always crowded, rips, some localism, pay to park and there are all facilities. The water is filthy and used needles are often found on the beach. The beach is not safe at night.
