MSW imports live data from over 6000 weather stations around the world every few minutes. Most stations are Airports or government facilities, this means that while they might not always be perfectly
positioned for your local break they are carefully calibrated and report accurately. Some stations report hourly, some twice an hour. Some don't report overnight. We only show stations on the map that
have reported in the last hour and a half.
Stations report wind speed but also gusts and any variation in direction, with local winds being so very important to finding ridable waves this should be an important tool in any surfers checklist.
