Parko Out of J-Bay

JOEL Parkinson has sliced his right heel to the bone after being clipped in a Snapper Rocks tube this morning. Joel fell from the front of his board on a head-high drainer at his home break and went over the falls with it before coming into contact with one of his skegs.

While awaiting surgery this afternoon, he announced his withdrawal from next week's Billabong Pro on his personal site, joelparko.com: "It's one of my favourite events, so I'm obviously disappointed that I won't be there this year. After having such a long break I was really looking forward to competing again and really looking forward to just surfing J-Bay ... I just wanna wish all the boys good luck over at J-Bay and I'll see you all in Tahiti."

Coolie residents have been cursed this week with Parko and Dingo both hospitalised in brutal circumstances, Mick Fanning might want to get himself a full suit of body armour, at least until he gets on his flight to South Africa.
