JOEL Parkinson ripped the bag out of it to claim a a third win in stonking conditions down at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.
Why was this contest so good? Well the 50th anniversary delivered a five day straight swell bonaza finishing-up in the good stuff and the title deservedly went to the best rail-to-rail surfer in the business Joel Parkinson. He defeated Mick Fanning in the all Aussie final everyone wanted to see and suddenly he's a title contender.
After losing to Adriano will Kelly even turn-up at Rio? The speculation mill is going into overdrive but you have to think that Kelly still believes he can beat anyone. It's whether he wants to that we'll have to wait and see.
Rio is the stop everyone has been talking about, offering a totally different canvas to Bells, expect punchy beach peaks, samba, and a chance for the young guns to express themselves. Bells in contrast is a wave that rewards the surfer with the classic game and who does that better than Parko?
I feel your comment is a bit unfair pattagucci. If you watch Greg's performance last time out and compare it to this one, he's already improved heaps. It's not an easy job, but judging how well he has improved, I can't wait to see Greg's presentation of Rio. Enjoy it Greg!
Thanks Younss, but clearly from my more recent comment I understand the function of the 'Reply' button. I did click "Reply", but for some reason my comment was posted at the top. P.S. what do you mean by "hash" sir ?
Seems like Kelly may have jinxed himself a bit by saying he was just thinking about winning every event. Surely he is feeling a little disappointed and embarassed. Parko was f'in tearing it up!
Bell's such a nice wave !!! Definitely on my list. And so happy for Parko, hope he'll grab his title. GO PARKO !!!!! Anyway this year's world tour will be an epic one for sure !
Grant agree, Parko def deserves the win but some of the scoring on waves suspect to say the least in earlier heats. Watched the Slater heat in round 4 in my view the scores they gave Slates were massively over inflated. On CJ’s first waves he was awarded a 7.17 for hitting the lip hard 4 times as well a good cut back, Kelly’s first wave involved a down the line speed chase followed by two strong top turns and gets a 7.50!!!!
+1 totally agree with you, sometimes you watch the wave then can't believe the score ! I first thought it was because of some judging criterias that I did not understand but your above example (CJ & KS) clearly shows there's something wrong... maybe someone can explain ?
Advertising. More good looking (sponsors love 'em) top seeds still in the comp = more viewers behind their sreens = more audience for "Rip Curl Bikini" and Mick driving his Truck
