Vortex ... Palikar Pass© 2009 - BBC 2/South Pacific

The camera is a TyphoonHD4 which has been specially modified by the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol, UK, and is similar the the one used on previous BBC landmark series such as Blue Planet and Planet Earth. It required a special housing unit designed and built by German specialist high speed cameraman/technician Rudi Diesel. Until this film no one had ever tried using this type of camera underwater before - judge the results for yourself.

It was good, but not THAT good. Watch the Blue Horizon movie if you want truelly mind blowing cinematography. Also if you want some real stoke grab a copy of the latest Carve. It has a free DVD called The Power of Three. It's about big wave surfing in Ireland. I watched it last night and it is truelly inspiring.

let's hope it works out for the locals, revealing this secret spot. As the South Pacific program showed, humans can destroy or live sustainably, it's up to us.

That had me hooting at the TV ( it's been that long since any waves on the East coast!!) the underwater shot with the wave rolling over was incredible.

That video is incredible, looking through the wave to the surfer and the breaking wave from below, WOW. It's all beautiful, really captured what surfing is about (for me that is). Just when you think you've seen it all eh! Thank you MSW for bringing it to my attention.
