No Active Storms
The best wave, 30 minutes walk from Santa Maria, is Ponta Preta, which has long rights peeling over black boulders. It's best with a decent NW swell, low tide and when the usual sideshore wind is light. The point picks up any good swell and breaks quite a distance away from the rocks, although the end of the ride suffers from backwash. There's also an awesome left, but it's exposed to the wind and breaks hard onto rocks: experts only.
