This tranche of new local spokesmen would traditionally be behind a camera full-time but employ a combination of print/digital and social to become the journalist, editor and publisher for a stretch of beach. They are up every morning, behind the lens for every swell, and are an equally well-known beach feature as the local hobo.
And who better to correspond about your local than someone who is local? Being a dab hand with the shutter is a prerequisite but by no means enough.
