Act of protest against the dredging of Rodiles's rivermouth!
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 February, 2007 : - - On Saturday the 03.02.07 there will be in Rodiles an Act of protest against the dredging of the ria!!! A few months after the news that that the town hall of Villaviciosa project the dredging of the ria (rivermouth) of Rodiles, the affair takes such dimensions that makes us raise the question: But what this bunch of assholes are thinking who they are.
As well we know, the PP (Spanish people's party) hasn't accomplished a coup d'etat and set up a dictatorship, which corresponds to the one of the mass murderer Franco, that allows this silly bunch to do everything they want... Or do we have mistaken something? Additionally to the project of dredging of the ria, they plans to extend the port of El Puntal to 500 moorings (now there is some hundred vingt/cent forty) to promote the sailing sport.
Considering the fact that there never give any sailing boat in El Puntal up to this day and that they will invest a million euros in this sport, (that in the north Spain is practiced less because it's an elite sport there which is practically never accompanied by good weather), and that they want moreover to tear off the surfing from a spot that being surfed since thirty years and that the administration never has not encouraged or supported (they didn't ever install any bad showers), this entire affair is considerable insulting.
The best in all that: If they really would to moor sailing boats in the expanded port, which will never be the case. In one year, there will be a dozen of sailing ships and 480 high-speed motorboats who will throw their well rotted shit in a water where live protected species, which will have inevitably to go somewhere else (just like the surfers) and from there always elsewhere until to there's not anymore space remains for them to live.
They want to then dredge so that the sailing boats can leave by the ria. The mayor says that the surfers should to go surfing on the right side by the rocks (what is such a pure madness!!!!) and that in any case, the dredging will not affect the wave (he's surely an expert politician in oceanography, and as we can see, he makes his own conclusions without environmental compatibility tests).
As if that all were not enough, the president of the fishermen association of the of El Puntal required in the press that dredging be carried out, that the port must be illuminates and a supplier of fuel have to be placed there (all that prohibits in a natural reserve).
An urbanization of 390 residences had been planned in the protected zone. The neighbors threatened the mayor to carry him in front of the prosecutor responsible for the cases of environment by to accusing him for corruption and embezzlement.
The press published the 01.25.07 that the mayor withdraws the plan of the 390 residences due to the impact that that will have on the environmental medium (there is nothing better than to threaten with the public ministry to gain the part) what shows that the mayor has something to dissimulate.
Saturdays next 3 February, around mid-day, in the left margin of the beach of Rodiles, we will have the occasion to assert with our presence the progressive damage under which our coasts suffer.
