PREPARE for invasion Queenslanders, it's that time of year again, when the entire world population chooses to exit the arrivals halls in Brisbane and Tugun airports and make an unswerving trajectory to the Gold Coast. Queenslanders are used to it, with only half of the Sunshine State's residents being born here, it's a permanent invasion.
The silly season got underway last weekend with the Rhythm Kirra Teams Challenge, where 36 clubs from all over Oz turned up en-masse for a huge weekend in Coolangatta. Part of the festivities was the State Of Origin beach footy on the sand at Snapper. State pride's a big thing for born and bred Queenslanders, of the entire 45, only three were born in Queensland while there are 16 from NSW.
