Jeremy Flores and Kai Otton have put themselves inside the Top 10 in their first year, and will duke it out for the Rookie Of the Year gong at Pipeline.

Currently Jeremy is in 8th Position and Kai is in 9th, Jeremy leads by 202 points. (Just over 1 heat result)
- If both surfers bomb out in the same round Jeremy will finish higher.
- If Jeremy goes one round further he will finish higher.
- If Jeremy finishes 33rd and Kai 17th, Jeremy will finish higher by just 17    points.
- If both surfers make it to Round Three, who ever goes furthest finishes highest.
- If Ricky Basnett (in 19th position) wins the event and both Flores and Otton go out with 33rds he could still only finish second to Flores ...

5. Jeremy has won 17 of his 28 heats (60.71%), which include 7 out of 9 first round wins.

6. Kai has won 15 of his 31 heats (48.39%), which include 2 out of 9 first round heat wins.

7. Jeremy has an average event result of 11.89 and Kai has an average result of 17.33.

8. Kai's best run of winning heats in a row is five, Jeremy's best is four in a row.

9. Kai's season high score was a winning score posted in Tahiti in a 1/4 final ... 18.73 def Lopez 17.64.
