ABOUT RED DOG SURF SHOP
Red Dog opened in December of 1989 in a former KFC building. Dave Sokoll and partner Mark Klosky saw a real estate opportunity due to the four-lane expansion of Highway A1A. The renovated restaurant, unique in its appearance, joined a crowded field of seven other surf retailers in New Smyrna Beach. The partners, both realtors whose free time revolved around the ocean, both recognized that the competition had become more like boutiques and were placing less emphasis on the cornerstone of surfing, boards! Red Dog's goal was to focus on having the largest and best board selection in the area. The business has matured over the years and the Red Dog offering now includes all the major clothing brands in the surf industry and we pride ourselves on representing the best surfboard manufacturers on the planet.
Two years ago Dave opened Kembali two doors away as a satellite to service the growing demand for long boards….over there are anywhere from 70-100 long boards and stand-ups available at any given time. The rest of Kembali is devoted to stocking furnishings and décor that appeal to the surfer/beach lifestyle, all imported from Indonesia.
