They shake at night, their pylons driven into the same lava foundation stone that is being pounded by devastating Aleutian swells only 50m away.

Make no mistake, the houses overlooking the Rocky Point stretch have some serious stories to tell and here's four of them:


Sultan's Shack: In the winter of 1970 the likes of Sammy Hawk and Terry Fitzgerald reinvented hotdogging at this particular lava pile.

In fact Fitz was also staying in a little shack overlooking Rocky Rights firing up his pintail between here and Sunset during the filming of Morning of the Earth.

Forty years later, Michel Bourez proves Rocky Rights is still the world's number one place to make bizarre new water tracks on state-of-the-art equipment.

True stories. The brazilian illegal camp was raided years ago, and guess what.. less crime, less crowds. The downside is, the Church of Rastafari was also torn down. I love praising Jah before a session!
