The best wave in Asturias. A world-class rivermouth lefthander similar to Mundaka but slightly shorter and handles less size. Two hours either side of low, preferably on the push. Needs a moderate swell to get going, usually best in winter. Always crowded when on, and heavy localism. Strong rips. Picturesque setting in a pine forest, fairly near the town of Villaviciosa. Parking OK apart from the busiest summer times. Some problems with car crime. Good beach facilities and camping by the river. Slight estuarine pollution, despite being a nature reserve.
