SURFERS AGAINST SEWAGE'S NEW NATION WIDE BEACH CLEANING TOUR AT A BEACH NEAR YOU.

SURFERS AGAINST SEWAGE'S NEW NATION WIDE BEACH CLEANING TOUR AT A BEACH NEAR
YOU.

Final call for volunteers to sign up for the "SAS MAKING BEACHES BAREFOOT FRIENDLY"

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) have teamed up with Barefoot wine to launch a nationwide beach clean-up tour this summer and are calling for those who have not yet signed up to roll up their sleeves to make their beach Barefoot Friendly.

As part of the national "SAS Making Beaches Barefoot Friendly" tour at the end of the month, a team of SAS campaigners, Barefooters and members of the public will descend on:

* Porthtowan on Monday the 28th of July
* Porthcawl on Tuesday the 29th of July
* Bournemouth on Wednesday the 30th of July
* Brighton on Thursday the 31st of July
* Cromer on Friday the 1st of August
* Tynemouth on the 2nd of August

Andy Cummins, campaign officer, SAS, said Marine litter is a huge problem on beaches all over the country and by its very definition, we are responsible for this marine litter in the marine environment. This tour gives beach-lovers a great opportunity to make a real and very positive difference on their local beach! It's really important that people take an interest but it's also really important that people have fun doing it. The beach cleans we organise are really enjoyable, educational and are a great way to bring local people from all walks of life together. Everyone is welcome so come on down and make a difference to your local area!

Starting at 2pm, the afternoon will kick off with a full introduction and briefing from the respected eco-campaigners at SAS. Each volunteer will then be furnished with gloves and a rubbish bag and the marine litter-picking will commence. All volunteers need bring is suitable clothing for the weather*.

The clean-up will be followed by a delicious, free BBQ on the beach for all volunteers. For those who want to stay on afterwards, volunteers, friends and family can enjoy an evening of fun surf quizzes and free Barefoot wine at:

* The Blue Bar at Porthtowan
* The Jolly Sailor in Newton
* Bar Vin in Bournemouth
* The Yellow Wave Sports Venue in Brighton
* The Wellington Hotel in Cromer
* The Turks Head in Tynemouth

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!

Emily Smith, marketing manager, Barefoot wine, said "It is a real honour for Barefoot wine to work in partnership with SAS on the 'Making Beaches Barefoot Friendly' campaign. Beaches are such an important part of our environment and it's crucial that we treat them with respect so that they remain fun, clean and safe places for us to enjoy."
