About Us

Siesta Campers is a small friendly company that knows how special camping in the Algarve can be. We want you to experience that too. Our enthusiasm about both the joys of campervanning, and the luxuriant Algarve, stems from our personal experience. Loyd’s childhood holidays rolled by in a 1971 VW Devon Conversion campervan touring Europe, thus he caught the freedom to roam bug early in life. Later together with partner Claire many years were spent living and working “on the road.” After experiencing life living in many different countries, it was the Algarve with its beauty and gentle relaxed quality of life that slowed our wheels and became the base on which to build our family home and raise our children.

Easy roaming in the sun

Our campervan Hire is based in the Algarve, Portugal, so you will begin your holiday in an incredibly laid back and beautiful place. Here the slow and peaceful pace of life is harmonious with the nostalgia of living in a 1970’s campervan. Whether it’s for a tour of the infamous west coast surf spots, rockin out to one of the many music festivals, or simply for a peaceful holiday retreat away from the usual tourist traps. You will not have to drive far to find whatever it is you seek.
From dramatic coastlines to nature reserves, fishing towns to mountain villages and lakes, Hiring a campervan in The Algarve will guarantee that you are surrounded with spectacular views five star hotels would struggle to better. Most importantly you are allowed to stop and soak up this vibrant place without time limits and endless parking tariffs. Fuel is cheaper, eating out affordable, life is easy...

The Algarve

The Algarve, our base is the southernmost region of Portugal. It is separated from Spain by the Guardiana River and from the Alentejo region to the north by 2 mountain ranges, the Serra de Monchique and the Serra do Caldeiråo.
Although it may look small on the map there is great geographical diversity within this region. The Algarve is not just about long stretches of perfect sandy beaches. It also has mountains, lakes, waterfalls and vibrant towns. Its character has been influenced by its close proximity to Africa and its Moorish occupation, which has had a lasting affect on the regions architecture, art and agriculture.
You can discover peaceful historical towns and escape the usual tourist bustle in isolated villages along the Guardiana river.Visitors from February to June will witness a riotous eruption of colourful wild flowers.
Of course, most visitors are interested in the spectacular coastline which is a treasure trove of golden cliffs, caves, small sheltered beaches and long vast expanses of sand. The West coast has a well earned reputation for being a surfing mecca. Here it is very easy to find good surf schools and board hire, as well as dramatic cliff tops to park on and watch the sunset over the surf.
The Algarve is infamous for its stunning weather and boasts a massive 280 days of sunshine a year. The lack of summer rain and warm winter sunshine makes it perfect for camper life all year round.

Our nearest airport is Faro and many major airlines fly here from U.K. and Holland
