SOLID swell forecast for the first three days of the the Billabong Pipe Masters.

2011 has seen a North Pacific season bedevilled by blocking high pressure systems thanks to what is generally considered to be a weak El Nina episode. November saw one high surf day making it the worst November on record. Fortunately that's been changing with Sunset seing a couple of decent swells, albiet affected by tricky winds.

Most interesting is a deep low forming off the coast of Hokkaido, Japan. This hurricane-force system is modelled to track toward the central Aleutians with enough of a fetch pointed at Oahu to provide a NW swell ideal for Pipeline. The cavet to this is the amount of sand on the reef, always an issue at this time of year.
