Also known as Gas Chambers, this is Atlantic City's premier wave. Between the old Gardens Pier and the steel Pier, very powerful, top-to-bottom peaks will break close to the beach on a SE swell at low to mid tide.
This is one of the beaches where the Duke first surfed in 1912. It is now overshadowed by huge high-rise casinos and apparently rates as America's favorite playground. Often crowded, strong currents, and nightmarish parking problems. Sometimes valet parking in some of the casinos is the best option.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
